And welcome to the journey…
[shareaholic app=’share_buttons’ id=’5031617′]I have embarked on a transition from corporate life at a desk and cubicle for a bread oven and a barnyard. We have recently purchased farm land in the Champlain Valley where I look to build a tiny eco-home and “bootstrap” a small farmstead. Abraham Lincoln once said “the finest art of the future will be the making of a comfortable living from a small piece of land” and it is precisely this art I will be immersing myself into.

The research has been exhaustive. The hands-on, working trips designed to engage in food and farming have been completed as well. I know that this is my calling. The time is ideal now to lay the groundwork, sow the seeds of the self-directed learning and get it to bear fruit. Those close to me know that farming has always been a passionate topic of mine and I feel it’s a way I can make a difference locally in the community while also building an ecological and sustainable business. This website will document the journey and share my passion.
If you build it, they will come
On ADK Farmer Dan I’ll hopefully be providing you with some local food inspiration and posts that document the journey. I’m sure I’ll be asking for advice every now & then too as I start a farm from scratch here in the Adirondacks. It’s important for me to reach out to folks with similar interests and having a website is a great way to connect to the tribe. The world needs more small farms and I am hoping to do my part! Plus with my background in marketing and technology, I would love to help out other farms and folks involved in local food to promote the harvest and the artisans who make it happen.
So again, I bid you welcome to my humble offering. If you want to follow along in the journey, you can subscribe to this site and have new posts sent to your email address.
