She’s my [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=”Ts3pNaMRmfE&rel=0″ width=”800″ height=”450″ anchor=”Rushmore” description=”Scene from Rushmore”], Max. Yeah, I know. She was mine too.
This barn and farm is like my Rushmore.
I am here to do one thing. Reclaim the it, renovate it and ultimately save it for future generations to appreciate.
Latest notes on barn renovations:
Soul of the farm
A barn is like the soul of a farm and the hub for most activities. In ours, the lower level has animal stalls and a milking parlor. Off of the lower level is an open-sided pole building that is going to be our “Summer Barn” for the animals.
This was fenced in to deter predators but like everything needs to be patched up.
Space available
The upper level where I’m doing these videos has two wide open spaces divided by chain link fencing. On one side is where most of the hay was stored in years past. We’re using it now to store salvaged pieces & parts for our future cabins and home building. The other side is what you see pictured above.
This is huge open space and I’m often wondering what it could be used for:

- Farm to table dinners
- Stage for live music
What would you use it for?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments… Thanks!
